After studying History of European and Oriental Art in Bonn, Florence and Rome, Anja Verbeek von loewis continued her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In 1992, she graduated with the title of ” Meisterschülerin ” from the Professor Robin Page.
Anja von loewis Verbeek has exhibited in numerous exhibitions, including Milan, Venice, Padua, Bologna, Vienna , St. Petersburg , Minsk , Istanbul , Munich, Bonn and Cologne .
Her paintings are found in private and public collections, among which the Neue Pinakothek in Munich. In addition, Anja has created installations for several companies such as Siemens, EADS, LBS and Lufthansa.
Through her work, Anja has found a language of her own, in which the human form in its reduction becomes alphabet. The artist depicts archaic and delicate silhouettes to shape what is often forgotten, unconscious, and invisible.
The materials consist primarily of pigments, plants and soil collected from different parts of the world and rubbed in beeswax and pure gold.
Anja von loewis Verbeek is also a writer and illustrator of books. She lives in Munich.
